Inktober 2019
I have been enthusiastically following my fave artists complete inktober for years. I finally wanted in on the fun. So I spent the last several weeks of September coming up with ideas that went along with Furry Little Peach’s prompt list. After 100 days of digital drawing I went the more traditional route and went for a watercolor/micron approach.
The Process.
I sat down and came up with a whole month of ideas and then set out to work. I drew out the concepts on sticky notes first, then I drew up each piece on my iPad to get the shapes right. I then traced my digital work twice so that I could have at least two frames for each loop. Then I sat down at a kitchen table for a weekend and hand painted the duplicates of each piece. Once completed, I scanned in the artwork, adjusted levels, and then used After Effects to compile the frames into looping pictures. I am really happy with the results! Would I do this again? Inktober–absolutely. This exact plan of action? Probably not exactly. Stay tuned for 2020 Inktober!
